Sounds Like: Pleasure.

True Story:  I knew the name Jessie Ware at the time she released That! Feels! Good!, but hadn’t really absorbed her music.  I was about half way through the album when I stopped it, got up from my drawing table and walked down the hall to find Brooke, my wife. Very calmly, I told her “I think I found your new favorite album.” She looked and me incredulously - our musical tastes have a complex relationship.  When they converge, they converged hard. But then there are some diversions with real distance between them. But she gave it a spin.

I have not played that album since, but I’ve heard it almost everyday.  Brooke LOVED it.  The thing is, this album has been on constant rotation in this house, and it’s not once come close to wearing out it’s welcome. The confidence and sexiness that spills forth from the speakers is so palpable, that it commands your attention.  Track after glorious track, Jessie Ware’s That! Feels! Good! offers up disco grove after disco groove. It’s playful, sultry, surprising, and flawless.  It’s an iconic album that will, mark my word, will slowly gain more attention than it has now to be a new dance classic.  Want to dance? Want to smile? Want to feel empowered?  Want to feel…. good?  Well…. THAT! FEELS! GOOD!

Favorite Track:  I love the piano intro of “Free Yourself”  but “Hello Love” feels like a lost classic.
